Child Center of Pennsylvania Honors Brian Houchins with Community Recognition Award

The Child Center of Pennsylvania is proud to announce Brian Houchins of Mechanicsburg as the recipient of the 2023 Community Recognition Award. This prestigious award is introduced annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to improving the lives of children in our neighborhood.
Brian Houchins, a dedicated elementary school teacher and group volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children’s schooling and welfare. Over the past ten years, his efforts have considerably impacted the lives of numerous kids in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas. Houchins’ initiatives embrace establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged college students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy expertise for at-risk youth, and leading a profitable community-driven campaign to upgrade native playgrounds, ensuring secure and inclusive play areas for all children.
The award ceremony shall be held on January 15, 2024, at the Mechanicsburg Community Center. The occasion will feature speeches from local dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins’ contributions, and the award presentation.
